I've been on the fediverse since 2017 instead of doing a blog like I should've. I've done so many big long toots that roughly once a fortnight someone will post about a problem they're having and someone else will go “Oh shit Dan wrote a thread about that, let me go try and find it” and then they'll message me saying “Yo where was that thread of yours about stuff” and I'll go “IDK lol” so this right here is me tryna generally get my shit together, last updated 2026-05-13.
Mastodon handles long threads very badly. When a thread seems to STOP ABRUPTLY or shift focus into folks replying to stuff from ten posts ago, click on the date in the top-right corner of the post where it stops, which will load more posts. I've never used the web interface for mastodon, I've always just used Subway Tooter on my phone, so I didn't know how shit it was until I'd been using it for like five years and it was too late to stop I could no longer be fucked.
Threads that really should be blog posts or web pages.
